Description
Not a true dwarf but Cranrazz Butterfly Bush has grown to about 5 to 6 feet tall and wide in our gardens, putting it at about two-thirds the size of standard, tall butterfly bush. You will love the show stopping, bright cranberry-red flowers on this one that are up to 8 inches in length and come all summer long to frost. The butterflies and hummingbirds will love them too. The flowers have a wonderful fruity fragrance. As with all butterfly bush, this one is drought tolerant when established and deer turn their nose up to it.Â
Landscape & Garden Uses
We have Cranrazz growing in both garden beds and pots in our landscape. In the ground, it’s 5-6 foot height and 3-4 feet wide, make it an ideal choice for smaller garden spaces, where larger growing butterfly bush won’t fit. In containers it doesn’t grow quite as large. That said, we’d recommend a larger pot of at least 15 inches or more in diameter. Ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or massed in landscape borders, flowering shrub borders and perennial gardens. A natural choice for butterfly and hummingbird gardens, Xeriscape gardens (low water needs, and blue-themed color gardens.
Suggested Spacing:Â 3′ for solid hedges or mass plantings; 6-7′ or more for space between plants

Note:Â For our customers who live and garden north of USDA Plant Hardiness Zone 5a, where this Butterfly Bushes is not reliably winter hardy, you’ll be happy to know it can be grown in containers that can be brought indoors during winter and placed back outside when temperatures warm up in spring.
Growing Preferences
Cranrazz Butterfly Bush is exceptionally easy to grow. It thrives in full to mostly sun and isn’t too picky about soil type, provided the soil is well-drained and of average fertility. At least 6 hours of direct sun per day is recommended for best flowering. As with so many other plants, constantly soggy or wet soils can cause problems with the roots.
